It’s been a busy year with a lot of projects! A good chunk of 2012 was spent in the studio working on L’Avenir’s debut album In Collapsing Silence. I am now pleased to announce its completion and am looking forward to getting it released sometime in 2013. If you’re familiar with the numerous instrumental ambient albums I’ve released under my own name for the last decade and a half, this new side project is a bit different. It also features vocals for the first time in my work. I grew up a huge fan of synthpop and darker 80′s electronic music ala Fad Gadget, Solid Space, Depeche, D.A.F. and the whole Wax Trax scene in Chicago… so in a way, taking a little diversion down this path makes sense to me.
In the meantime I made a micro site for the project with a couple preview tracks. Check it out.

Picked up a vintage Hohner Melodica on eBay recently. Well it just arrived and went directly into the studio to try it out. What happened was a fun little solo for Melodica and SH-101.
Having a little fun with a rough cover of New Order’s “Truth” from the 1981 album “Movement”. Never could find a place for vocals in my own work so why not in a cover.
Gear used: Boss DR-55, Roland SH-101, Crumar Multiman, Steinberger guitar. Recorded to 1/4” tape.

Heading off to Philadelphia in a short bit. Two live shows for WXPN and Stars End tonight. I’ll be posting photos after I’m all set up.
Very sad news on this Thanksgiving Day. Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Coil and X-TG passed away yesterday in his sleep. Peter’s work has had a HUGE influence on my own music and art. I feel fortunate to have had a couple short conversations with him over the years. He was truly a modern day visionary who’s life was cut too short. He has left behind a truly amazing body of work that spans a few decades and will hopefully continue to live on and influence the generations to come. Peter, you will be missed.
